Planning a cruise with kids ?

This 46 minute video is an invaluable source of information. We follow boats in the Pacific with kids on board, see life on board, talk to parents and the kids themselves. We deal with all the important questions about education, safety at sea, keeping in touch with home, privacy on board, and much more.
There are as many ways to deal with kids on board as there are boats with kids, and the video doesn't judge one method of learning over the other.
Homeschooling, correspondence school, a syllabus driven teaching system - no formal teaching at all - what's right for you may be something in-between all the variants.
This television documentary programme has been made available on video for all those who want to hear the experiences of families cruising with kids.

Pacmap.JPG (6047 bytes)

This video guides the yachtsman through the following islands of the South Pacific:
Easter Island, Pitcairn Island, Iles Gambier (Mangareva), Tahiti and the Society Islands, Austral Islands, Cook Islands, American Samoa, Western Samoa, Tokelau, Niue, Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Gilbert Islands (Kiribati), Tuvalu (Ellice Islands)

                Tahiti

Tahiti1.JPG (10398 bytes)

Tahiti is the first major island cruising boats will visit after having left North- or South America. Often there is a need for repair and maintenance work to be done; supplies to be received and perhaps new crew members will be arriving for the passage through the tropical South Pacific.
This video deals in details with the arrival in Tahiti and all the services available in here: Entry into the harbour, navigating the lagoon of Tahiti, Customs and Immigration clearance, bond payment, money transfers, fuel, food, where to anchor, water supply, sailmakers, car rentals, where to eat and what to see and much more.

Vanuatu
Vanuatu is a country in the heart of Melanesia, full of traditions and with a colonial past of its own: This island group was formerly a colony shared by England and France. Vanuatu is a lovely cruising ground giving the yachtie a unique opportunity to meet people who live in a close relationship with land and sea. Port Vila is the capital and the video takes us there and lists the services available. We go to the islands to the North and explore anchorages and navigation in the island group.
